The actor was born Ezra Matthew Miller on September 30, 1992, to parents Marta Koch and Robert S. Miller. He grew up with two sisters Saiya and Caitlin. He is from a Jewish, German, and Dutch ancestry, all coming from a Christian background. 

At the age of six, Miller began to train as an opera singer, to help him overcome a speech impediment. He joined Rockland Country Day School and The Hudson School, where he completed his education. Later he dropped out of his school to pursue his acting career.
